Addiction is a coping skill used to suppress unwanted feelings from some past trauma. Emotional trauma left unresolved for long periods of time can result in addiction and even physical pain and suffering.
The good news is that all emotional pain, physical pain, and suffering can be healed. This is possible by identifying the source of the pain. Instead of suppressing the pain and emotions when they come up, we suggest an alternative approach by allowing them to come to the surface. Instead of pushing it away, we invite it in to be recognized and acknowledged. We must simply change our mindset from identifying these unwanted feelings from suffering (victim mindset) to opportunities (victor mindset).
